Stone Soup Festival with the Ladybug Art Garden

On Saturday May 9, Ladybug Art Garden, MAPCL staff and persons served joined in the festivities at the 14th Annual Stone Soup Festival. Sporting ladybug sun visors made by the folks at Alternatives, we shared photos of our past creative endeavors, our vision for the future, decorated pots with stickers and planted sunflower seeds with smiley enthusiastic children.

The Stone Soup Festival is a celebration of our global food community and included a Farmer's Market, local artists, community food Security & garden info and prepared food. The UBC Farm made a presentation on cultivating sustainable food systems. Heather Havens shared her knowledge on "The joy of raising urban backyard chickens". There was also a children's music group, amazing entertainment by the Carnival Band, many local growers of vegetables, fruit, herbs and plants, free soup and much, much more!!!

As Ladybug art Garden representatives, we fit right in with our herbs for sale, mosaic art work, decoupage clay pots, foam ladybugs, ladybug rocks, ladybug planters and hanging flower baskets.

Blessed with a sunshine and surrounded by community spirit made this an event a truly enjoyable experience.  I am looking forward to next year when we can build on what we did this year and embrace the evolution of the Lady Bug Art Garden journey.

The festival was held at Britannia Community Centre grounds at 1661 Napier St at Commercial Drive in Vancouver.
