Richmond Cultural Event

On Friday, May 22 Richmond Lifeskills was proud to host an afternoon of different tastes and fancies of Asia.

Richmond was proud to welcome various individuals and programs from the community.

Deepi was our MC who kicked off the event with a warm welcome and presentation of the itinerary. Judy, Barb and Jotti revealed some trivia and history of the continent.  As well, during the event participants and staff wore many different native costumes and apparel.

The afternoon consisted of a demonstration from the Richmond Center for Disability, who showed everyone how to make a lovely, sweet, bean paste dim sum from scratch. The second was a marital arts demonstration from Sirota’s Alchymy.  The team consisted of a number of individuals from programs throughout Richmond, including our very own Tony and Leon.  Everyone was delighted by their various intricate moves and self-defence.

The highlight was the board-breaking exercise where our demonstrators used parts of their bodies to break wooden boards.

After, everyone was encouraged to eat and mingle among the Asian smorgasbord of nibblies.

Thanks to all who attended and participated to make the event a success!
