Family Care Network
What is the Family Care Network?
The Family Care Network was developed in 1997 to increase choices and offer alternatives to traditional staff models of residential support. MAPCL contracts with families / persons in the community who want to open their homes and invite a person with a developmental disability to live with them.
MAPCL currently supports 28 individuals; both children and adults, living in family care models.
MAPCL has established strong community partnerships that have helped to make the Family Care Network an effective support model.
Being part of MAPCL’s Family Care Network requires a willingness and commitment to provide effective support to adults or children with disabilities in a family-style setting within your home.
Who Are Family Caregivers?
Most family caregivers have prior experience and training related to supporting persons with developmental and other related disabilities.
Network families reflect the diversity that exists within our communities. Single persons as well as couples with and without children provide care and training from their homes.
Family Care relationships are planned and designed to meet the individual and collective needs of the person receiving care.
Families approved by MAPCL are matched with persons seeking placement, whether child or adult, who have been referred from Community Living British Columbia or the Ministry of Health.

Who Should Apply?
1. Are you willing to provide an individual with an opportunity to be part of a family?
