THE BEST OF TIMES

QUESTION:
WHAT’S BIG AND BEAUTIFUL AND FULL OF COLOUR, PEOPLE AND MUSIC?

ANSWER:
THE FOURTH ANNUAL ART SHOW FOR BC PERSONS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

MAPCL’s Annual Art Show was better than successful this year, it was incredibly successful. We featured more than 350 pieces of art, had more than twice as many guests, three times as many prizes, twice as many sales and at least three times as much fun.

It was a great social evening where staff, volunteers, art lovers and families got together.

This wonderful celebration of expression and inclusion was our community celebration of inclusion. With music by the incredible entertainers, Leora Cashe and Ross Taggart (Juno Winners), a terrific banquet of appetizers that just kept coming and wine to tempt the palate the night was complete.

A tremendous amount of hard work and coordination made the event a rousing success. Arann Henn offered her MCing talents, Don DeVries hosted the event and Jodie Bergeron and Corinne Stockford manned the all important sales tables. Don House built the beautiful portable walls, Debbie Allinger led our culinary team and servers, Rob Pretli manned the sommelier table, Caroline Dagg. Eco Rangers, Vancouver Life Skills, provided moving services, and also provided the exceptional artist biographies. Our teams included Amy Glass, Eileen Dooley-Berg, Tammy McEvoy who donated beautiful works to our silent auction, Tianna Seeley, Joan Timmers, Heather Walsh who handled the huge job of registering all of the artists, Rachel Albers (a self described jack-of-all trades) Sonja Anand, Ellen Manlulu, Lucy Neves, Rosemary Schwarz who made beautiful baskets for the evening, Tammy Delpadado, Carole Spencer, Bill Marion, Colin Darge our pianist, Jonathan Wirth our lighting guy, Rob Burns, Louise Blackwell, Lori Underwood and her daughters Meaghan and Courtney, and organizers Don DeVries, Gerry Fremming and Kathy Fournier. A truly special thanks to our Silent Auction donors, Hank Bull, Bill Goss of Dr. Vigari Gallery and the Venus and Mars boutique on Cambie Street in Gastown.

Most of all our gratitude goes out to our intrepid artists who provide us with beautiful images, and a different view of the world each year. Their work as artisans is developing with each show they do.

A wonderful time was had by all. Please enjoy our photo gallery of this event.
