DON DEVRIES:
What motivates you to be an artist?
RAY TAI:
I want to go to Emily Carr and I know that is what I am going to do.
DON DEVRIES:
When did you start painting and drawing?
RAY TAI:
I started at ten and I have been working at doing art for seven years?
DON DEVRIES:
Your family seems really supportive? What do they do to support you?
RAY TAI:
They support my going to Emily Carr and encourage me to do art. At my home I use the upstairs of my house for sketching and the garage for painting. The upstairs has better light is better for sketching. I use the computer to draw too.
DON DEVRIES:
What media do you use to create your art?
RAY TAI:
I use charcoal, and acrylic. My parents buy my supplies.
DON DEVRIES:
How do you feel when you do art? What inspires you and what is the first thing you do when you decide to do art?
RAY TAI:
When I paint, I think of colour. I look at something, memorize it then paint.
I feel happy and excited when I paint. When I painted “After the Fall” I started with a black background, added white, green and loaded on too much colour, then I used a knife to complete the painting.
DON DEVRIES:
You have a great imagination.
RAY TAI:
I know I have a lot of imagination.
DON DEVRIES:
Do you feel like you are an inspiration for artists with disabilities because you may be the first person with a disability to attend Emily Carr (College)?
RAY TAI:
I do think that I am an inspiration. I think I will go to Emily Carr.
DON DEVRIES:
Thanks Ray. Good Luck. We’ll talk soon. |
