RAISING SPIRITS AND RAISING FUNDS

On October 22, 2006 MAPCL  employees enjoyed a hearty breakfast, elegant  ragtime music in the lobby of the Westin Bayshore , and  reviewed a huge selection of items to bid on.

Interesting items included high-end electronics, household appliances, gift baskets, vacations, experiences and three tables full of chachkas and baubles which every woman attending treated as a guilty pleasure.  Buy Low Foods filled an entire ballroom with premium groceries at very low prices.  MAPCL staff were very tempted by a lottery ticket tree, but as our chances of winning were increased only slightly from the daunting 1/14,000,000 , we did not bid. Huge shopping baskets full of groceries were priced and bagged by the incredible volunteers and Buy Low staff.

Just before the program and the live auction began, Jordan Thurston our CEO bought everyone a prize balloon. I for one was really happy with the glass mobile I won. It was a great way to spend a Sunday, and was a success all around for those who attended and as a fund raising vehicle for Variety the Childrens Charity. We hope to see you there next year.
