MAPCL’S SECOND ANNUAL ART SHOW
The whole life lies in the verb seeing.
- Teilhard De Chardin

In celebration of Community Living Month MAPCL presented 160 artworks at Heritage Hall. The venue was perfect. The combination of the elegant interior of this heritage building and gentle fabric draping by Catherine Lamb and her team made the ambience elegant and welcoming.
The work of the artists was highlighted by live “artist bios” provided by Ross Renaud, Stage Door’s inimitable leader. The hard work of all of the volunteers spearheaded by Don Devries, Louise Blackwell, Amy Regehr, Sherry Crane, Debbie Aulinger, Catherine Lamb, Don House, Rob Pretli, Ethel Niessen, Kavita Kamat, our client volunteers and our families who came out in full force and many who attended made the evening a huge success.
MC tasks were taken on by Arann Henn, Global Television personality and music for the evening was provided by well known local artists Diane Lines and Jayleen Stonehouse. Wonderfully creative piano sets were performed by Jonathan Wirth and Colin Darge. Both young men attend the Stage Door program.
Food was provided by Quest Outreach Society, and prizes were provided by Darios Ristorante , The Vancouver Opera, and other suppliers. The easels were generously supplied by Winn’s Flowers at Kingsgate Mall.
The magic of this evening grew out of a creative vision made reality by Lyn Meroll. MAPCL’s artists presented work that absolutely vibrated expression, colour and the artists’ view of the world. Their obvious pride in their work and their support of the event made it all that it was.
As an exercise in team work, a joyous opportunity to celebrate creativity and freedom, and a timely dedication to the concepts of Community living, the Art Show was a success.
MAPCL’S treasure is in its people. In a touching speech about why our event epitomizes the best characteristics of creativity and art, Jan Wood spoke of the compelling and reflexive power of art to make us see through the eyes of others and feel as they did when they created an image or captured an experience.
Please take a look at the image gallery below and see clearly the joy in each photo. These images captured only a small soupcon of the great feeling and satisfaction experienced by all who attended.
Thank you MAPCL staff, volunteers artists, entertainers and generous donors for giving us this wonderful show.
