ALASKAN CRUISE
From June 17th, 2007 - June 24th, 2007, Gerald Cummings and his proprietary care worker, Hester Hussey, went on a luxurious cruise to Alaska with a large group of deaf-blind clients and their social service providers from the U.S.A.
All together, there were about 65 people in the group. Gerald had the best time on the cruise! Gerald is an avid swimmer so he went to the pool daily to swim laps. Gerald also became a regular at the spa on the cruise. At the spa, Gerald enjoyed daily soaks in the hot tub, and he sat in the sauna room to sweat it out with cold showers in between. A massage and pedicure completed the spa experience! The cruise also had a nice exercise room that Gerald enjoyed exploring, and Hester took Gerald for daily walks on the track around the ship. However, the best part of the cruise for Gerald was probably the meal times. Cruises are known for their scrumptious food, and Gerald enjoyed his dining experience immensely. He even got to dress up in a suit and tie twice for the trip. Gerald and Hester went on tours whenever the ship docked. They enjoyed a train ride up to the White Pass Summit at Skagway. The highlight of that train ride was when the train conductor and Gerald switched hats for a picture! They rode a tram up a mountain at Juneau and shopped in between for new t-shirts, hats and tactile toys for Gerald.
It was a wonderful vacation for Gerald!
