QUEST OUTREACH SOCIETY and MAPCL
A Strong and Strategic Alliance
In 2006 MAPCL began a dialogue with Quest Outreach Society regarding the common interests of both organizations.
We found that we could truly support each other’s efforts in that Quest Outreach Society’s mandate was to feed people with food supplied through manufacturer production overruns of all manner of grocery products and produce. Our consumers must make the best of marginal incomes to feed, clothe and house themselves when they live semi-indpendently or independently.
The benefits of our consumers supporting Quest as volunteers was clear. They would receive a good supply of great groceries, work in a pleasant work atmosphere and develop transitional employment skills while they were at it.
In addition, Quest has excellent rates for food which is purchased by our programs. MAPCL receives a “Fresh Sheet” each week listing all the groceries available at the Quest warehouse. Programs can shop for essential items and stocxk up on prepared food, produxe, frozen items, meat products and snacxk items.
Quest also provided MAPCL and other agencies with incredible Christmas dinners, all prepared and in kitchen warmers. From an industrial kitchen on the East side, fully equipped with donated appliances, food is prepared, specialty items cooked and seasonal fruits and vegetables processed and preserved. Quest is now launching their new catering services for 2007. MAPCL and Quest have everything to gain from this strategic friendship and mutual support, and we invite you to review Quest’s website at http://www.questoutreach.org/.
Through the efforts of Sherry Crane, the Supported Living Network at MAPCL is providing opportunities at Quest for our own client groups.
