A TRUE LOVE STORY BY DAVE
I have two wonderful children, a daughter, 22 and son 21. Both fine people who have been my heart and soul since the days they came into this world. Sadly life at times does not turn out the way we plan and for most of their young lives I was not with them. I did have visits, weekends mostly and in those few hours together we tried to cram in a weeks worth of all the other stuff you get to miss on a day to day basis.
On one weekend my son came to visit, he was about two years old and we decided to end the visit with a bat and ball on Moody Park in New Westminster. A photographer stopped by and snapped some pics and the following week there on the front page was a large picture of Chris swinging at a homer.
Like I said Chris is now 21, and stopped by last week to see dear old dad. It was the first chance we had had to get together and enjoy our Christmas. We exchanged gifts. Mine was a wonderful copy of the front page framed. I must admit it pulled at the heart strings as I remembered that afternoon in Moody Park. "So do I " said Chris.
Forrest Gump said it best. "I may not be a smart man, but I do know what love is".
