Plans for the future:
The Laurel Program
Our Philosophy at the Laurel Program is to ensure continuing quality of service by providing consistent supervision of all programs and constant education of all individuals involved.
William Kent Our New Clinical Director is a welcome addition to Mainstream Association. Besides providing ongoing clinical supervision to our team of 16 consultants he will also focus on developing our Early Intervention Program for children under 6. Early intervention uses the science of Applied Behaviour Analysis to teach children specific skills in structured teaching sessions and in natural settings. The early intervention programs for young children are more intensive and focus on many different areas of development. The areas in which we will structure our program includes, Communication, Academics, Gross and Fine motor, Self-Help skills, Social development and play skills. Research has shown that effective early intervention is essential to a child’s growth and is an important tool in helping a child meet developmental milestones. By designing individualized programs through developmental outcomes children will have the ability to acquire the skills to navigate through our complex social world.. We understand and acknowledge that each child is unique .We will ensure each program is individualized to teach new skills and also build on the strengths of each child. There has been much interest shown by parents looking for behaviour consultants for their child’s early intervention program.
We currently have four consultants on the qualified service provider list maintained by Autism Community Training. We look forward to updating you as we develop our Early Intervention program. |
