WHAT IS ROMANCE?

This year, don’t blow your money, buy diamonds or rent a limousine.  Your potential or current sweetie craves throughtfulness, consideration and affection every day.

Show it by responding to the needs and sometimes the fears of your partner.

Experts indicate that if you respect, listen to and cherish your partner, this will go a long way to keeping the warmth and affection vital in your relationship.

I recently met a couple. The wife had cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. The husband shaved his head to show his wife he thought she was beautiful and to share the loss of her hair by sharing the experience.

My father’s friend Edward wrote his fiancé every day that he was away at war.

My friend  had invasive cancer surgery that left her quite housebound, and her beloved remodeled their outside upper deck to look like a Venetian palace complete with torchieres along the perimeter. They had always wanted to go to Venice, but now would never be able to take the risk of traveling so far away.

Sometimes the smallest gesture, like remembering a favorite item or tiny detail is the secret of romance with a couple. One very young couple I know saw a movie about Penguins, and learned that they mate for life. They refer to each other now as Penguins, signaling their partnership will go on.

Forget the chocolates, the hefty treating and the jewellery and rely on your constancy, kindness and consideration to keep your relationship strong. What we want out of life many times are small ministrations, sweet kindness, and someone noting our daily condition one way or another. That is true love, and that is the fertile ground for romance.
