CHRISTMAS IS ALMOST HERE...

We are already seeing signs of Christmas and its only the end of November.  Decorations are up everywhere, Santa is arriving this Saturday at the mall, and the Santa Clause parade is on Sunday.

Another sign that Christmas is fast approaching is that the Purpose Society has called with the profile of a family in need of a Christmas Hamper. Mainstream’s Head Office has participated in this program for a number of years and it seems that it has become a tradition for us.

This year the family is a young mom with a 2-month old son.  The mom is asking for warm coat, school supplies and basics for the baby.  It always tugs at my heart when the family asks for things that most of us take for granted.   We may not be able to change this family’s situation but we can help in making this Christmas special. With the donations we receive, we are usually able to fulfil the family’s wish list plus a gift card for groceries.

A number of people help in making this happen.  We have to plan, shop and wrap the gifts and then deliver the hampers to the Purpose Society but it is worth it knowing that we can make a difference, for at least one day.
