A PASSAGE
Jan Wood – Chief Program Officer

It will sound like a cliché to comment on how quickly the year has passed. As we enjoy the beauty revealed in the first snowfall of Winter, our schedules begin to fill with various celebrations related to the Holiday Season.

It is difficult to predict what the New Year will bring, especially in the field of Community Living. We have experienced a variety of significant changes over the past several months and certainly there will be more. The one consistency we can rely upon, as always, is the dedication and commitment of MAPCL staff. Across regions, throughout Programs and Homes and within the walls of Head Office, there exists a grouping of individuals, all part of a larger picture and vision, all creatively working together to ensure that one thing happens; that we are Enhancing the Lives of Persons Served.

There is no question that the work we do is valuable. Intrinsic within this value are the Relationships we have with each other for without Relationship, we would not exist. It is the people of MAPCL that define who we are and where we are headed. When one considers how richly we are blessed in this regard, “the Future, “ as Telus would say, “is Friendly.” For while it is true that things will continue to evolve and times may seem uncertain or, perhaps even anxiety-provoking, the one, crucial resource that cannot be taken away from us is that of Relationship.

Any action ultimately impacts individual people for better or worse. Together, within our collective group of relationships, we have worked diligently to create an organization that ensures the right things are being done for the right reasons. As a result of MAPCL continuing to do our very best in each moment, we have ensured we are in the best place for the next moment, and the next and well into the future. This will mean that as long as there exists a need for relationship within the context of the service we provide, we will be here to fulfill that need.

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere appreciation to each and every staff person within the agency. From Administrative and Human Resource supports working conscientiously behind the scenes to help facilitate service and keep systems intact and organized, to the many front-line staff providing the crucial supports, to the invaluable team of Supervisors and Senior Support Workers, to the dedicated Team Leaders, my gratitude for another year of commitment and dedication.

Wishing everyone a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season,

Jan Wood-Chief Program Officer
