Developing meaningful friendships through “The Friendship Project”
The Friendship Project is a family governed initiative funded by Community Living British Columbia. The purpose of this work is to help youth and young adults with developmental disabilities to achieve their goal of forming and keeping friends throughout the local community. Autism Community Training
Austism Community Training
has developed a listing of current caregiver support groups throughout BC. Some groups are autism specific, while others meet about the range of disabilities that often occur alongside (co-morbid with) autism. Examples include: epilepsy, attention deficit and hyperactivity, hearing impairment, giftedness, learning disabilities, Down Syndrome. Several other groups have emerged, including one for grandparents raising special needs children and biological interventions.
